The Garstang Ukulele Group is growing rapidly and after a very successful beginners' class in September we now have over 40 members. The group is open and welcoming and in addition to Garstang we have members from Fleetwood to Bolton, from Heysham to Halton. If you are interested in joining ring Bob Sapey on 10995 604621. We start December with a ukulele open mic night at the Arts Centre on Saturday 3rd. There will be performances from the Sandstones, James Fraser, the Ukuladies, Cumbrian Tethera, the Brit Ukes and Ukulele Jukebox in addition to the Garstang Ukulele Group. If you are interested in playing contact bobsapey@gmail.com. On the 13th we're off to Preston to play for the Parkinson's Disease Society and on the 23rd we will be at the Cheshire Home in Dimples Lane. We're also having our Xmas outing to Slice of Sicily on the 18th so we've been learning some Italian songs to play after lunch. Top of the list is That's Amore featuring Andy Stewart on lead vocals - it promises to be a fun afternoon. Finally on New Year's Eve we will be at the Tithe Barn, it will be time for the Garstang Ukunanny! Songbirds - Singing for Pleasure Mondays 1:30pm - 3:30pm If you enjoy singing just for pleasure, come along and join us. Very relaxed atmosphere, no auditions. We are not a choir, just the joy of singing, good company, a natter and a brew. What could be better? For more information call Avril (01995) 602904 Poetry Appreciation Friday December 16th 2pm - 4pm. This month's focus is on Christmas Cheer and Celebration! in which we can all take part. Bring along your favourite poems or readings and we’ll have great time! The afternoon will finish with a Jacob’s Join. We are very pleased to see newcomers to our meetings - just come along, you can sit and listen or join in if you wish. Merry Christmas and a Very Happy New Year.
