GARSTANG YOUTH COUNCIL ELECTS NEW YOUTH MAYOR Garstang Youth Council held their annual AGM and youth mayor making ceremony last Thursday 13th October. The event was held in St Thomas' Parish and Community hall in front of many leaders of the community including reps from Wyre council, schools, and scouts amongst others. Lucas Brown age 13 years was elected Youth Mayor for the coming year 2016/2017. Lucas attends Garstang Community Academy and has been a very active member of the youth council for the past couple of years. He has taken over from youth councillor Myles Sutcliffe - who has had a tremendous year as youth mayor. He has raised nearly 500 for the A.D.A.M. appeal, and this money will see the installation of a defibrillator at the top end of High Street (placing yet to be confirmed) Well done to Myles and good luck to Lucas, whose charity will be Cancer help (Kids). The young Citizens of the year were presented with their trophies from Damian Carr (Junior) and Cllr Lady Atkins (Senior) The worthy winners of these accolades were: Josh Carter from St Thomas' primary school and Nathan Halford who attends Ripley in Lancaster. Congratulations to these two "Garstang young citizens of the year 2016-2017) Well deserved.
